We chose to include Fun With Nature in our
Explore and Discover backpack because it will encourage
you to do just that.
This hard-bound book is nearly 300 pages long.
The illustrations are informative and clear.
Animals, insects and plants are described and each with
the topic headings of "What It Looks Like", "What It
Eats" and "Where to Find It".
The "Something to Do" sections will inspire fun
projects using items found outdoors or within your own
home. Our children particularly enjoyed making
moth sugar (page 47) after seeing a beautiful luna moth
at their grandparents' home.
Blank pages follow each section, allowing you to
keep permanent notes on your adventures.
Our children will sit for hours just paging through
this book. It accompanies us on visits to the
grandparents' house, our friends' farm and drives in the
country. It gets carried off to be read before
sleeping and is one of the first books our children will
look for when told to "Grab a book and sit a
while". Our well-worn copy has seen children
through long car rides and stints on the couch with the
flu. It is the definition of "family
favorite".
